No doubt--this was a brilliant move on Ashton's part. What better way to get close to his fans than through the power of Twitter? And you're right, there's a lot more to him under the surface. Besides, I gotta love those young guys who go for the cougars!

Yeah, I know. I have to agree. I'm just bracing myself for the "dumbing-down" of Twitter as millions of more sheep join today.

Jason, you and I have been following this game for years now. This is nothing new. Sites like TMZ and Perez Hilton are just the natural progression from print-based tabloids and magazines like People, etc...

Telling the world to move on is futile. This is what people have done since the beginning of time and you can be sure that it will never stop.

Right, they could just as easily not follow him. But, why go out of your way to talk bad about a guy that you don't even care about? Of course, it's to build themselves up. They are trying to gain notoriety by bad-mouthing somebody else.

Thanks for the comment, Sharee.

I know how you feel. It's like a guilty pleasure. But, darn it, he's entertaining.

I totally respect Ashton, and you do a good job of pointing out his strengths John. He's a great entrepreneur and has come out with some very interesting projects and ventures. The guy is savvy as hell, and this is just one of the recent examples of his marketing intuition. He also recently said he'd buy 10,000 mosquito bed nets for a third-world country if he wins, in which CNN matched the offer to do the same (a very a good gesture on both their parts). So, regardless of the format, I'd have to say I'm fan of his work.

HOWEVER, I can't stand the vanity of it all! I think that Twitter has given celebrity journalists and bloggers a feeling that they have free reign to write about celebs anytime they update. I'm dropping interest in twitter at twice the speed of Facebook or MySpace mostly because of this. I'm sick of reading my news in the morning and finding it full of headlines about Shaq saying this, Brittney saying that, Hammer being wise, and all the other celebs who decided they'd too jump on the Twitter bandwagon. OMG Oprah (that's her real name, didn't ya know?) is going to do her first tweet today. The world is sitting around waiting for it like she's the fucking Pope! Ok world, it is officially time to move on.
