How do you say happy birthday in Spanish? I’ll tell you how, Chinaco tequila!
I have long been a fan of Chinaco tequila. I even wrote about taking it to our company holiday party back in 2005. But last summer while on a business trip in Santa Barbra I was having lunch at a tequila bar called Left at Albuquerque and found a bottle of Chinaco I had never seen before. I asked the bartender about it and he said it was called Chinaco Negro and was an extra anejo tequila. I didn’t feel comfortable having a shot of tequila just before hopping in to the rental car to drive back to the airport, so I passed up the opportunity to try it out. I have been kicking myself ever since.
On Sunday we had a few friends over to celebrate my birthday. I was extremely excited to open the gift presented by the entire group to find a bottle of Chinaco Negro. We each had a shot and I have to say, this tequila is, without a doubt, the best tequila I’ve ever had. I plan on keeping this around for a while and enjoying it slowly.
I had to do a little research to find out what the differences are between the different types of Chinaco. They all have to do with how long the are aged. The Blanco isn’t aged, Reposado aged 8 months, Anejo aged 3 years and the Negro aged 5 years.

Big thanks to Chris, Gloria, Marcia and Charles for this amazingly awesome gift!
I love tequila but have not had this yet. Always good to try a new brand. We'll have to have some drinks next time I see you.
Most people don't get past the first bad experience with tequila to bother trying out some of the higher quality options. I guess a lot of that is the responsibility or lack there of of too many tequila shots in one short period.
I have tried this Chinaco Negro and also keep a bottle, but I must say the first bottle didn't last all that long, I was so impressed by the smoothness, for a tequila, that I raved about it too much to my friends and therefore it disappeared in a hurry!
Chinaco Negro is absolutely delicious, and it has a delicious both taste and smell. I've tried it twice in Mexico and was a nice experience.
Tequilas are often considered a generic drink and many people think that they all taste the same. Chinaco tequila is one of the finest ones I've tasted and the Chinaco Negro, though a bit dry for me, it's outstanding.
