Weight Loss Challenge

I want to lose weight. I want to get in to a regular routine of getting some exercise. I've said this before. It's failed before. So, how do I set out to lose weight again, but actually be successful in doing so? I think the problem with my attempts in the past has usually been a lack of focus and no real goals.

Step 1: Set a goal
Step 2: Put a plan in place that will help me reach my goal
Step 3: Stick with the plan

The Goal
Lose 40 – 45 pounds in 6 months.

The Plan
This is actually going to be a work in progress. I realize I need to make some drastic changes. My eating habits are horrid. I've tried in the past to cut down on the fast food and especially the amount of soda I drink in a day. For me to be successful, this is where the most drastic of changes need to take place. So, if drastic is required, I've got to be willing to do it. So, what would be the most drastic? How about this. As of today, I'm going to replace my soda intake with water. This, for me is NOT going to be an easy step. But, I think it's a mandatory one. My calorie intake from soda alone is enough to keep me fat the rest of my life.

Next is the exercise. At the moment, I do not have a membership to a gym. And, at least for the time being, I do not intend to get one. I am going to have to be self sufficient in this area for now. I have a treadmill at home and nothing stopping me from doing sit-ups, roller-blading, etc… I don't think a gym membership is a requirement for getting in shape. In the past, having a gym membership has, I believe, done more harm than good. It works as a great demotivator for me when my schedule doesn't allow me to get to the gym. So for now, I'll get started at home. If I change my mind and decide to start going to the gym to work out, so be it.

Vitamins and detailed records are also a requirement. I am going to start taking a daily multi-vitamin and will start keeping a food journal to keep track of what I eat during a day and how much water I'm drinking.

So that's it. I'm challenging myself to do this. But, since you've read this, you are now a part of it, too. If you see me drinking a soda, feel free to remove it from my hand (forcefully, if needed) and dispose of it. Thanks for your help. I'll keep you posted.

Good luck John. I know you can do it.

That's nearly 7 pounds a week. You might say that's biting off more than anyone can chew…

Seriously though it is a fine goal since why not challenge yourself instead of just saying "I want to lose a couple pounds". Not that I'm any bit of an expert but there are key couple things that will make this goal obtainable and even a little fun if applied right.

The easiest most effective diet/exercise plan in the world… Burn more calories than you take in everyday. So you eat a snickers that equals 273 calories which means a little over an hour of walking to burn the equivalent of that snickers. Or the fun route 2 hours of vigorous sex.

The other key is that you didn't get this big in six weeks so if you don't see the pounds shaving off at your desired rate, supplement more sex…

Oh a reference link for you:

but I'm not sure how accurate it all is since sitting and playing cards burns as many calories as vigorous sex. See I told you that weekly tourney was a good idea.

Heyman, I'm right there with you. You can do it, I've seen what you're capable of when you set your mind to it.

Sodas are the devil. Try running. Worked good for me. This is how I started:

Craig, I'm trying for 6 MONTHS not 6 weeks. 7 pounds per week is insane. 7 pounds per month, doable.

Though, I'll throw in as much extra sex as needed.

Hey you! First off, Way to Go! And second… I think I will join you! Your motivation has in turn motivated me. I need so desperately to get off my A**! LOL!

P.S. I will be watching you with the soda… ;o)

Good Luck! I have found that if I put a lil W on my calendar in a bold color on the days that I work out, I get motivated seeing those "w's". silly I know but works for me. Been getting to the YMCA about 5 days a week. now if I can stop baking cookies…or give more of them away… 🙂

Let me know how I can encourage you. I think the pancrease cleanse is the way to go. Once it recalibrates your whole body works better and you will lose about 20 pounds that first month and keep it off. My 20 has been off for 2 years already! It's a great start to a healthy you!

Where does one go for a pancreas cleansing?

http://www.matol.com this is a month long cleanse. You can do it longer if you want to lose more weight. I signed up to be a distributor so I could get my products a lil cheaper. If you want I could send you some of their products home with the kids to try. Let me know.
